When entering or exiting the installation from Cafe Doris, you see this part of the installation outside of Decker Gallery.

The quote above the table is attached to the glass on the inside of the gallery.
This allows reflections from the surrounding area to reflect on top of the words and draws attention to the barrier between gallery space and other space.


The quote from mathematician Isaac Barrows reads:

“Time does not imply motion, as far as its absolute and intrinsic nature is concerned; not any more than it implies rest; whether things move or are still, whether we sleep or wake, time pursues the even tenour of its ways. Time implies motion to be measurable; without motion we do not perceive the passage of Time.”

You cannot hear the metronome sounds from inside the gallery until you open the door and enter the space.
