The Lettrist movement began in 1942 by a group of artists who wrote poems about their contemporary culture on their clothes. Lettrism now appears all over the fashion world through various brand name slogans. The Progressive Runway Project III focused on bringing Lettrism back into the hands of the individual.

Participatory runway shows occurred at four Providence hotspots on June 3rd, 2006. The goal of this year’s Progressive Runway Project III was to create a dialogue in the eclectic Providence community.
